'Elana Stone is a revelation!' Edinburgh Spotlight
'One of the most impressive singing voices in the country' John Bailey - Sunday Age
'Elana Stone has an astonishing voice that is at once pure, smouldering, soulful and belting' Chortle (Edinburgh)
Raw, soulful, and uplifting Elana Stone presents a powerful combination of skillful musicianship, a commanding stage presense and damn good songwriting. Elana centres her music around her powerful, flexible voice, which ranges from blazing, Janis Joplin style soul, rock and roll, and Joni Mitchell-esque piano balladry.
As a jazz singer, Elana received high accolades. She was named Best Jazz Artist at the Musicoz awards in 2004, she won the prestigious National Jazz Award competition in Wangaratta and was a semi finalist in the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition in Switzerland in 2005.
With her own original project Elana and her band have toured Europe and appeared at festivals around Australia including the Perth International Arts Festival, Sydney Festival, Melbourne International and Fringe Festivals. They have supported such artists as Washington, Holly Throsby, Jackson Jackson, Bluejuice and Kate Miller-Heidke.
Elana spent this year performing here and abroad with Tripod's new show, 'Tripod Vs the Dragon'. They took the show to London, Edinburgh and the States and recieved rave reviews.
"The Rescue Ships" is Brian Campeau and Elana Stone‘s new project, an ideal marriage of their individual talents. At once complex and immediate; their modern take on folk, rock and pop. Between them, they name-check influences like Sufjan Stevens, Owen Pallett, the Dirty Projectors and the Wainwrights.
Elana has been described by the Age as “one of the best singing voices in the country.” The pair are currently working on a new album that will involve a multitude of musical friends orbiting around the core couple, who between them, have worked with almost every prominent Australian artist you can think of including Angus & Julia Stone, Josh Pyke, Bluejuice, Washington, The Cat Empire, Katie Noonan, Jackson Jackson, Kate Ceberano and Urthboy.
