Renée Geyer's past is Australian music history. Her career has spanned four decades and is still going strong. A precocious jazz, blues and soul singer in her late teens; Countdown royalty in her 20s; a string of pop, soul and reggae hits spanning the 70s and 80s; her LA years in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Kahn; her 90s renaissance with Paul Kelly. She is a singer, a songwriter, producer, and author.
In addition to performing songs spanning her incredible 40 year, 22 albums career, Renee will also perform a few of her favourite jazz standards but not as we know them – expect interesting, dark Renne-esque versions that will bring shivers down the spine. Add this to her signature tunes including “Man’s Man’s Man’s World” and “Heading In The Right Direction” together with her unique interpretations of the tunes she loves from the soul, r&b and reggae worlds such as “Midnight Train To Georgia”, “Dedicated To The One I Love” and “Why Can’t We Live Together”.
In 2003 Geyer released the album Tenderland on ABC Records produced by Geyer, which peaked at #11 on the ARIA albums charts. In 2010 Renée released The Ultimate Collection through Warner Music – covering 4 decades of Soul. Whether in the studio or on stage, this is where Renée Geyer is home and continues to wow audiences with her remarkable voice.
2011 and Renée started working on a new album that will cover the jazz classics in her own inimitable way.
Renée Geyer had started out a sensual blues belter. Now she has evolved into a bona fide national treasure - someone to look up to for never having let go of her dreams. This consummate entertainer with a proud body of work still transfixes a room with the power of her song.
A live show with Renée Geyer and her world class band is a music lovers’ delight.
