Dan Sheehan’s ‘Infinite Ape’ quartet was formed late-2011 as an outlet for compositional inquiry.  Featuring the incredible talents of Paul Williamson, Sam Zerna and Sam Hall, the group shifts seamlessly between finely crafted melodies and structured improvisations.  
This residency will be Dan’s first performance series since returning from the 2012 Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music, where he had the opportunity to work with some of the leading names in contemporary improvisation and composition, including Vijay Iyer, Dave Douglas, Tyshawn Sorey, and Okkyung Lee.  
Dan is currently completing his Honours year in improvisation at Monash University, completing a research project based on the music of New York saxophonist/composer Tim Berne.  
Over three Wednesday nights in July, the group will unveil new compositions alongside some older material, and by the nature of the repertoire, each performance will be highly unique.
